Jay Burney, Head Men’s Basketball Coach

Jay Burney enters his 6th year at the helm of the Buckhorn Men’s Basketball program. In his first four seasons as head coach, Burney led the Bucks to an overall mark of 83-44.  In the 2005-2006 season his Bucks finished the post season as 5A State Runner-Up losing to Ramsy High School.  He coach Trant Simpson who signed with Alabama A&M University.

Burney was head men’s basketball coach at Coffee High School for two years.

Burney was head men’s basketball coach at Lee High School.  In the 1999-2000 season his Generals finished the post season as 5A State Runner-Up losing to Blount High of Mobile Alabama.  His Generals finished 17th in the nation.  He coached Chadd Moore, who was 5A player of the year who signed with University of Cincinnati and Duane Ervin, who was All-State, who signed with the University of Memphis who is currently playing overseas.  

Burney also coached at Darton college in Albany Georgia (Head Coach), and   Wallace State College (Asst. Coach).

Coach Burney has over 197 wins as a High School Head Coach and over 100 wins as a College Head and Assistant Coach.

2 year starter  at Muscle Shoals High School
   - All Area 1984-1984 and 1985-1986
   - All State Honorable Mentioned 1985-1986
2 year starter at Wallace State College
2 year starter at Shorter College
   - Team MVP       1999-2000
   - All Conference 1999-2000

Personal:
Married to Sandee Robinson, they have 3 sons Jadie, Judson and Jack.

Anthony Bell - Head Coach Varsity Girls

Personal:
Born on October 15, 1971 in Pelham, Georgia. Anthony Bell was the ninth child of eleven children. He married his college sweetheart Alicia Howard-Bell on April 6, 1996.  They have two children, Anthony and Amaya.

Education:
B.S. Physical Education, University of Montevallo, 1995
Masters in Biology Education, Alabama A&M University, 2001
